Scammer

So I have a bike for sale. I get this text message say I'm a Marine Engineer and I'm at sea can't use my phone. Give's me and email address saying its his wife's. He wants to buy the bike for his father says he can only pay with paypal. I'm wondering if he is trying to hack my paypal account. I tell him deal sounds fishy to me call me when you get to shore. Today I get another text and now he's buying it for his brother wanting to pull the same deal. I text back I don't know what kind of scam your trying to pull but quit texting me. It remains to be seen if the texting stops. Any Ideas what to do next if this happens again.

What you should do is get a really nice Single malt Scotch, sit down on the sofa and have a drink while ignoring your phone entirely for the rest of the night.

After selling a couple bikes on craigslist most people asking about paying with Paypal never seem right. Once anyone mentions buying the bike for someone besides themselves I always respond saying local cash pickup only. Not sure how their scam works but its a waste of time dealing with those people if you cant talk to them over the phone.

Never use PP, Wire transfer, or anything else electronic. Cash to me is KING. I would block the number and forget it ever happened with some nice Margaritas and Senoritas...

I'd tell him that he must see the bike or send his wife and leave cash if deal is made or a leave a check if she will return later to load the bike upon check clearing.
