red light law for mc (NC)

just passing this along, although its been out for some time. it affects us all at some time or another.

SENATE BILL 1359, RED LIGHT EXCEPTION for Motorcycles
Amends G.S. 20-158 to allow a motorcycle to proceed through an intersection controlled by a signal if:

1. The motorcycle came to a complete stop for the redlight;
2. The intersection is controlled by a vehicle actuated traffic signal using an inductive loop to activate the traffic signal;
3. No other vehicle that was entitled to the right of way was sitting at, traveling through or approaching the intersection;
4. No pedestrian was attempting to cross at or near the intersection; and
5. The motorcycle operator waited at least 3 minutes before entering the intersection.

I think I just wait till its clearly clear and Im not endangering myself by doing it. Could be over, could be under 3 minutes. Dunno if they have that law here in texas, I will find out if a cop ever sees me do it and I do, or don't get pulled over for it.

Frankly, I do this anyway.. And what is congress doing - shouldn't they be focused on jobs?

Here's a list of some states that have this law. I do this all the time, mostly in a stop at a smaller side street redlight. Most of the major intersections here are on a timed loop.

I'll wait one cycle and then make sure it is clear before I roll out.

It would seem that congress is wasting a lot of time on dumb crap like this.

hmmm, i think this is getting off topic of the original post. i understand your comments, however the post was to advise you guys of something that my be of some use. the issue on the gongress wasting time, i agree. the sad truth is that a lot of these laws come to be re-instated as they time out. they are often done away with or altered in some way. they are constantly giving updates regarding this same issue.
