Question Please Help,I may have a pc virus

Well for a few weeks now every once in awhile when I go to log on to my laptop, it wont accept my password until i press capslock on, then once I am logged on things seem ok except that with the caps lock ON it actually types as if it is off. I figured my laptop was just going south until this morning it did it and I tried to restart my computer( oh yeah the actual restart button wont do anything) so I tried shutting down. When I tried that it took forever to respond and then showed a ending program window that said...get this
"ending program "FONT CAPTURE"

Please help what do I do?
Im running windows XP home edition service pack 2
with... no... virus... protection... i know dumb right but help me fix it
PLEASE

If you haven't gone down yet, you ain't ridin hard enough!!!

what'd I tell you about them goat porn sites?!

font capture is associated with Adobe Acrobat Reader...try uninstalling it and downloading and installing the latest version from adobe.com

after you do that let me know if you're still having issues and we'll go from there.

That's not really helping him now though, is it? Plus the learning curve would probably be so significant where it installing Linux will be more burdensome than putting up with whatever problem he has in the first place.

Good suggestion, wrong person in which to suggest it.

Install a free AV program like AVG and do as Wikid said. :)

As long as your system will start up and run, the antivirus program will work. You may have to reboot a few times.

There are times to be condescending and/or uppity and there are times to be helpful...rarely do they occur at the same time. I concur with OJ. Wholesalely (is that a word) blowing away your operating system (and everything in the file system) to deal with stability issues is stupid...even for the technically enlightened.
