New Member questions

Hello, I am in the process of selling my bike. Just sold one and am trying to sell the other. At first I wanted the new r1, but not sure if that is the route I will be going still. Its power is all in the upper rpm range. I was wondering how the 10r does down low with power. Also I am a big guy 6'4 and close to 300 pounds. I was wondering If any one else is close to my size and how you feel on the 08. They had one at the dealer but at that point of time I was not even considering kawi, so I did not sit on it. But If at all I am going to try to find someone with one, that I can maybe take a little ride on. I might have some more questions that I am not thinking of at this moment but thanks for any responses.

Edit- Pretty sure the power down low can easily be helped by sprockets but I am still wanting to know. Thanks

can you test ride bikes, ive never been able to at any of the local dealers in my area, and i think the 10 is good on low end power, remove the secondaries and power kicks in hard around 4-5k range

I've never been able to test ride a new sportbike either.

The 08 10r is more like the R1 in power delivery than the 04-05 and 06-07's, from what I'm getting from the reviews and from people on here, but i haven't ridden one, so cant say for sure. Morw like the R1 in that the power is delivered up higher than it used to be.

The 08 CBR1000RR got awesome reviews though and was titled King for 08. It had the best power to weight ratio, and I bet if Honda would up the compression, it would put out more ponies... It's my next bike pending what issues are discovered this season.

IDK, I wish I could see the torque curves for the bikes. That would tell a lot of info.

for me the 08 feels like an R1 on power, the whole motor is like a turbo (if you will lol) has power low but doesnt really build till around 6k, unless you take out the secondary butterflies, then it kicks in about 4 or 5k. Ive tested bikes at SC dealers but it was only the demo bike or a bike that they're doing everything they can to get rid of. doubt theyll let you swipe a new 08 to cruise around the block.

The '08 ZX-10R is pretty cramped for someone your size....I'd suggest the Honda RR which is getting great reviews...because of your size and weight, you might also want to go down 1 (-1) in the front in the gearing no matter what you end up with...

As I've understood, the Honda got all its juice becouse it actually have 16t in front.
If you go 16t on the 10, you'll be flying, I guess, but loose some top end speed.

05- ZX6R
06- ZX10R
08- ZX10R
10- S1000RR M-sport, ABS/DTC, Alarm, HP shifter.

I don't need top end lol, I don't ride to fast on the street. I will be taking it to the track so I doubt I will hit top end very much their either.
