New Law

This may have been around before and i had heard of it here in TX BUT i guess now it's official?

got this from a friend!!

FYI it might even save you some money and someone's life. Really good law hope it is enforced. Check out the link at the bottom.

New Traffic Law 2010 - Ticket cost $754.00
GOOD THING TO KNOW: New Law: If a patrol car is pulled over to the side of the road, you have to change to the next lane (away from the stopped vehicle) or slow down by 20 mph. Every state except Hawaii, Maryland and D.C. has this law. In California, the "Move-over" law became operative on January 1, 2010.

A friend's son got a ticket for this recently. A police car (turned out it was 2 police cars) was on the side of the road giving a ticket to someone else. He slowed down to pass, but did not move into the other lane. The second police car immediately pulled him over and gave him a ticket. He had never heard of the law. It is a fairly new law that states if any emergency vehicle is on the side of the road, if you are able, you are to move into the far lane.

The cost of the ticket was $754, with 3 points on your license and a mandatory court appearance. Please let everyone you know that drivers know about this new law. It is true, see details at the following web address:

yup I got a ticket for it once, can't recall the exact terminology but it was a rather pricy one. Since then I slow down and move over if I can. At the time, the cop had no lights on but his rear running lights, and I couldn't see out my windshield. It was after a winter storm, they had cleaned the roads but all the trucks were blowing up that melted snow/salt mix and my wipers in my work car were not working.

Actually I just found it on iowacourts. It was a ticket for UNSAFE APPROACH TO CERTAIN STATIONARY VEHICLES.

At its core, the Ninja ZX-10R is a motorcycle built for the accomplished rider who can fully appreciate its capabilities--whether put to the test at a racetrack, or merely the focus of bench-racing conversation. It is, by all standards, the embodiment of the ultimate superbike.

I was pulled over for passing a cop cause I didn't move over. But he told he I either had to slow to 20 or below, or pull over to the next lane away, not both at once. I was let off with a warning cause another car did the exact same thing, except flew by a little faster. lol.

been in nc for a while. it was passed i believe in an attmept to reduce fatalities for emergency personnel. been a lot of them from drivers hitting them while they are on the road side, either the people themselves, or from rear ending the vehicles. i have seen some nasty sh!t from the accidents. not a good scene when a car gets hit from behind from another vehilce at 70+.....

That law was passed in FLA because too many cops, firemen, emt's, etc were being killed while working accidents or traffic violations. LEO's do pull "stings" as mentioned before...I think it's a good law.

this law is in canada too, well at least where I live to for how long I dunno but the last time I was pulled over I heard about it. To be ticketed for a law that is not advertised is absolute bullshit. There is no justice system.
