New F150 5.0 or ecoboost?

In the next month I'm picking up a new F150 but having a hard time picking which motor I want. Both great motors but I am leaning toward the eco but when I buy new I drive them till their dead. My last truck I just got rid of was a 95 chevy with 248k on it. So with the eco I'm concerned about maintenance cost and reliability now and in the future. ? is anyone here with either the 5.0 or eco with any input.

My buddy just did same switch...WHAT A DIFFERENCE IN THE TWO....Not my truck or anything but i would go eco boost.....Trk feels lighter handles better and man its got ballzzzz..I believe it has electric steering rather than a steering pump,no real turbo cool down time req,no lag..The list goes on and on.....

If you go to you tube and watch the vids on the eco boost engine and how they tested it you will see why..

Only bad thing i see about eco boost...Is the sound,i guess i shouldnt say its bad but just doesnt have the v8 roar....Better on fuel to over the v8..

My buddies dad has a ecoboost and LOVES it. The thing pulls like a freight train. I think he said he got in the upper 20s MPG doing close to 70 on the highway.

Stupidity and Motivation are a dangerous combination

eco boost is the way to go. V8 power, v6 gas mileage. My uncle has one. Pulls a HUGE camper with it with no problem.

Those ecoboost motors are bad ass. If you want a killer sound, put a catless dual exhaust on it and that thing will be spitting flames at gear changes(stick). Plus, if you are planning on modding the truck for increased power at all, the forced induction makes more power for alot less money than naturally aspirated. Guys are already getting VERY impressive #'s hp wise and awesome track times too. Best thing ford did in a while is put that motor out there. hopefully, they will offer a ecoboost Mustang for $24k. I'd be all over that rather than $34k for the 5.0. For around $3k in mods, the ecoboost motor can gain over 120 hp. Would cost around $10k to gain that power in the 5.0.

Can't beat the eco! But I'm a stickler for the V8 only for the sound of ol school muscle. If u plan to keep it for the long haul choose the eco boost. Hands down.

Time will prey on you, and drag you thru hell....

when i hit a deer with my car they gave me a 2011 f-150 with the 5.0 in it and that truck had balls and i was also getting 23mph on the highway with it. on the other hand my friends dad just got an ecoboost and that engine is crazy it pulls hard sounds amazing and he gets good mpg with that too, i would say go with the ecoboost! plus being that its turbo'd the possibilities are endless!

V8. Rebuilding turbos is not really econo! V8 is still the way to go if you want to keep it for a long time! Why you wanna buy a brand new Ford anyways? The resale value blows. You loosing so much money..

The reason I'm looking new right now is that the $42,700 truck I'm looking at I can for $34k with the $8750 in rebates. Still not a done deal because I am a cheap ass but was thinking of taking advantage of the rebates. And like you said about the turbos. They make me a little nervous in the long run.

2011 or 2012? V8 with 360 horses is a no brainer! Why bother with a v6 with turbos to save few pennies on gas?
