My first car.. 3kGT

So I was sitting here and I saw a video on youtube of a 3kGT VR4, and it made me miss my 3000 a hell of alot. It was my first nice car I purchased and damn I had some good memories in that car. Purchased it right before I met my wife, we had many late night drives to absolutely no where with that car. Thinking about it seriously got me wanting it back so bad I was just hitting up craigslist checking them out.

So who else has fond memories of their first car? And out of curiosity what kind of car?

As a partially reformed redneck I had a 1980 Ford Bronco 4x4 lifted on 33's. Many fond off roading memories in that thing.

I got rid of my 73 Malibu after it began to leak everything and I rearend a F350 with an aftermarket bumper. It messed up the front clip and I had to duct tape the headlight in. I drove it for another 10K miles. I sold it for $500 to guy with a body shop. It leaked everything oil from the valve cover, front and rear main seals, valve guides. It also had leaky piston rings if that counts as an oil leak (internally). The trans leaked from both front pump seal and rear seal around the drive shaft. Coolant from the intake, and bottom radiator hose. If you hit the brakes too hard it would overcome the fittingl to the proportioning valve and leak brake fluid instead of sending pressure to the rear brakes. This is what caused the front end damage. It had no AC or heater. I did love that car. I haven't sat in a car what was more comfy. I drove it 15hr straight to Chicago without getting a sore spot.

Oh well, 40K miles out of a $2300 car isn't bad.

I had a '93 Chevy Lumina for my first car. The best thing about it was it was paid off. Sold it for $900 and used that money to buy my first 3000 GT SL. What a thrill ride that car was. And when you were in twisties, and the seat hugged you, it was awesome. Then a few years later I bought my 2nd '94 3000 GT SL, that had been twin turboed!!! That thing was even more fun. I am starting to look for another one, but it will be a VR-4 and if I can find one I would really like the VR-4 Spyder. But they are still going for around $30,000 and they are approaching 20 yrs old.

My first car was a 79 Mustang GT hatchback. I pitched in a couple hundred bucks and my parents paid the other $1500 or so for it. About a week after I got it I was running late for school (I lived in the sticks) and got popped for doing 109 in a 45. I lost my license and my parents sold the car. So my first car was very short lived, but it was my first and I won't forget.

My first car was a 86 Mustang GT, I liked it even though it was a POS. I still have my favorite car, even though I do miss driving it, havent actually driven it on the road in almost 2 years, is my 555hp 75 Corvette.

Man those were badass in their day!! They were tanks but they moved for sure! I'm the same way. I had a 92 AWD Talon. That was the first nice car I bought ad drive the dog shit out of it. One thing about dsm's. They break all the damn time but when they run they run like a scalded ass ape!! I still keep tellin myself when I get money I'm gonna buy another one just like it.

I had a 1993 Dodge Stealth R/T as my first new car. My last semester in college was spent trying to figure out how to get that car upon graduation. I landed a job and within a month I had bought it. I loved that thing. But it wasn't really a family car so after my second child, and 100k miles it was time to go. :(

That's pretty cool that a few of you have actually owned the 3kGT or the stealth. The talon is badass too. Came across a really sweet one on Craigslist for a good price. It wasn't street legal though, they used it on the track.

1992 VR6 Corrado SLC leather and dark green pearl exterior 5 speed...

First year VW did a VR6 (haha) it was called the Porsche that Porsche could not build...

They compared it to the 968...

My buddy and I would race each other too. He had a 92 Prelude V-tech...

Ahhh the good old days...
