Mac computer thread....

I know it's going to take a while to get used to it, but does anyone have any suggestions for software to download? I'm looking for Office for a Mac, as well as Yahoo Messenger with Phone. I was told there is no phone option for the Yahoo with a Mac. Is that true? Also, what is the deal with widgets? Are there any must have widgets to get?

Any other advice would be appreciated.

Congrats on the wise choice.
I'm still on 10.3.9 or whatever so no widgets for me.
The best way to get the software you're talking about
(and be legal) is to have a student or yourself if you're
a student look at (I think) Journey...? I don't know there's
a couple of software companies that sell student version software
(with all capabilities) for a huge discount.
As for the Yahoo. I don't know what the "phone" part of it is but
I use YM on my mac.

the widgets that are on there are the best for normal appliaction... i have loaded a few more from the apple website... there are hunderds of widgets available... the only thing that i would recomend is the mac janitor or setting up a mac account... pricey, but well worth the backup and security you get... you also get some cool features with the mac account... also check with Comp USA.. they might be able to get you a student deal for some software...

Garage
download Dashcode from Apple and make your own widgets. It's super easy!

How do I access the usb ports on the MAC. I have a stereo that I want to play my itunes through. I plugged it into the usb audio port on the stereo and then on the mac and it's not playing. It's not like a regular computer where I can go to my computer/settings.
