Itunes help...track info issues.

I'm new to the itunes thing, but I had quite a bit of music on my computer. I installed itunes, and downloaded available artwork which wasn't a problem. Then I went to advanced and clicked get CD Track Names and a message that says itunes cannot get info for songs that were not imported using itunes. This is a little confusing because I had the songs in a music folder on my computer and did import them using itunes.

It doesn't look like I'll be able to get the info for all of my music, so I was wondering if there were other add ons or programs that would help me get the correct track info. I have track info, but I want COMPLETE info.

it means you didn't let itunes rip it off the cd (import) so it doesn't have the correct data to be able to look it up

unless you feel like ripping all the songs again (using itunes or another player that supports the idv1 or idv2 tags) or manually inserting names your pretty much screwed

i made a weekend out of it.. i had to encode ID3 tags for 60+ gigs of music.

2 cases of beer, and mindless clicking and type. I had a blast.
