I'm so going Mac next time. . .

Hey look, it's another long arse rant from Kickaho

First, Gateway can kiss my hick arse! I just got my PC back last Friday from the hard drive going South on me. I had a busy weekend so I figured I'd set it up Monday morning as it's the only day I don't need a whole days sleep to get ready to work that night. So I crack open the box to find a slip that said "The serial ATA cable to the hard drive was replaced due to performance errors." WTF!!! Performance errors my arse, the only performance error on that ATA cable was the little tab that locks it in was broke off from my goof arse yanking on it a bit too hard in a fit of rage in the beginning of this mess. I'm sure that cable had everything to do with it when the hard drive was removed from the PC and taken to the goons at the Geek Squad to try and salvage any info off it too.

Anyway, back to Monday, I knew that tossing it back in the box was not really an option as I knew I'd at least have to give it a try before I could call them bastids back. So to my suprise, it actually booted. Not only that, but before I took my nap I was able to get a few programs loaded and even get my family's emails going. Yay!

Fast forward a few hours later. I awake from my nap and decide to check the weather on the rebuilt PC and find myself not all that suprised to see the damn things dead again. Won't boot, not for shyte. Friggen hard drive ain't even trying to spin up. Nice. . . So now Gateway is sending me a brand new hard drive, preloaded with all my OEM stuff and some new resore disks just in case. But that'll be at least Friday or Monday before that gets here. Yippie.

Now, fast forward to today. I'm finally feeling somewhat social enough towards PC's to actually hop on and check the worlds best website and grab some emails. In the meantime, you can most likely expect the Member Movie deadline to be pushed back another week or so. At least that'll give time for Hill to submit whatever content he gets racing here soon.

I replaced my Gateway with a Dell Inspiron- no regrets. Gateway will be out of business soon- even with their weak attempts at flat screens. Look at the performance of the stock. I don't think they have ever had a profitable quarter.

My advice is to cut your losses by tossing the Gateway and buying a Dell.

I've been using a Mac since I was in middle school and I just finished College. I've used macs numerous times for all the crappy video projects I had to make throughout school, and all the research papers, financial models, etc. I had to do. Right now I'm using the same Powerbook G4 I got for graduation and it's still runnin' strong after all these years. I'm lookin' to upgrade now to the new 17" Macbook Pro, so I gotta beef up my wallet a little

Best of all, if you get a powerful enough Mac, you can run Virtual PC and use Windows whenever you feel the need to or when you have a program that isn't Mac friendly
