They are a bit pricey but still a lot cheaper than a motorized wheel chair. I believe that all mx
racers especially the younger riders should be mandatory to wear one.

You'll think $400 is a lot until you break your neck, sever your spinal cord, and end up wishing you had been wearing one.

Having said that, I doubt I would have bought/worn one. And I did end up breaking my neck, severing my spinal cord, and now can't feel anything below nipple level. My manual wheelchair cost over $5,000... and you can't put a price on not being able to ride again.

I've got one that I wear in my race boat. The $400 bucks is not for the material, It's for the research and testing that Leatt has put into compression neck injuries. Same deal with a Hans device or Hutchins-Hybrid that the car guys wear.

This is the one thing that scares me most in life and in riding. I'm sorry that you had to go thought it.
I agree with Cyclepuck when he says all MX riders (and all mountain bikers for that matter) should wear one. However, how many Streetbike spinal cord injury's are compressive ie. faceplant over the bars? Are there any stats on this at all? I though about buying one but rejected it for this reason, I never ride with out a spine guard however.

05 ZX10r "the Mongrel": GP Suspension rebuilt forks, LE Penske double shock, 05-06 ZX6rr shock linkage, Brembo RCS MC, Nissin calipers (best mod for this bike!!!), Attack rearsets, Motion Pro Revolver throttle kit, ASV clutch lever, Champs sliders, smoked Zero Grav DB, Ti caliper bolts, CF fender, Renthal grips, Speedo healer, Maviryk MDA123 batt, Supersprox +3 520, That's it..... For now

Good topic. I am extremely keen on safety. Use lots of gear and have been thinking about the neck brace, but find it hard to use due to the position of the head. I pushes down the back of my helmet making it difficult to keep my sight forward on the road...

I guess what im trying to figure out is if a blow on the head hard enough to break your neck , would the brace even do anything at all to prevent a breackage. Theres an old saying 2 ounces of prevention is better than ten pounds of cure.which means I should spring for one of these things, as long as it does not restrict my head movement.and they're 210.00 on ebay.
