Question Do my leathers fit? What is normal?

I went for a ride yesterday in my Frank Thomas leathers. My wife pulled them out of the closet before we went and remarked about how incredibly heavy they were. The pants are the same size as my jeans, but cut much tighter ( or so it seems ) because I have to pull really hard on the velcro strap to close them. The jacket restricts my breathing just a little and when I'm on my bike, I have to work hard to bend my legs to get them on my pegs.

That said, I have always figured that this is how it is for everyone. Your suit fits tight and when on the bike, its cut so sitting there feels okay. The pants fit tight all the way up my legs and are hard to get on, even with my slippery, superthin long johns. Once on, I'm not too aware of them until I have too really bend my legs.

So, the question is, does your suit weigh as much as mine?
Is it uncomfortable to flex your legs?
I am 6' 1" 200lb. Am I fat?
If I am fat, did I just buy too small a suit because they are cut too small?
My 2 piece has a 46US top. My chest is only 43", 46" expanded.
Should it feel so tight?
I have worn the suit for a total of 75 hours total. Is it broken in?
Do I just need a bigger suit?
Can the tailor/repairer who comes to Loudon for some of the races make my suit fit me better?

Yes they are heavy. Leathers should be tight, but not painful. I have been told that it is not worth making a suit bigger (too much trouble / cost). Much easier to make a big suit smaller.

I dealt with leathers that didn't fit right for years before finally getting a custom suit last year. Best money I've spent.

Leathers are wicked heavy. When properly sized they fit like a second skin. I call my leathers my batman suit 'cause they fit like superhero tights (minus the huge cod piece and utility belt) You should never be uncomfortable in your leathers unless it's 100* outside or you got them in pink with Power Puff Girls embroidered all over them. You might be fat, you might not...post naked pix and let the ladies decide. Sizes vary from manufacturer to manufacturer...and even from style to style...only way to really know if they fit is to put them on (this is why I will never buy leathers online unless I've tried them on at a local shop first). IMHO if you dumped a couple grand on a set of leathers then it might make sense to see if you could get them tailored if they if they don't fit well, but realistically it makes more sense to put them on eBay and buy another set that fits for you. Like most protective gear...snug but not uncomfortable is the rule of thumb.

I have Frank Thomas leathers and they do not fit as tight as you described. But, they do fit good. They may be too small from your description of them.
