Cussed out by a cop...

Cussed out by a cop....

Well guys....Montezuma was terrific today...very little traffic...but a duc rider got killed last weekend on Mesa Grande and there were 4 cops going back and forth there....thank God for Radar Detectors....

However, on the way back on the 76 my buddy and I got pulled over for crossing DY and 87 in a 55...friggin' Harley rider would pull over to let us pass so I went around....Sheit happens...

But that cop had a BAD attitude....never told us anything....but asked me for my D/L....gave it to him...they he told me to go get my papers....I had it in a zip lock bag and was pulling the stuff out the bag while I was walking over to him....and he says to me "Knock off the dipshit attitude or I'll have you thrown in jail"...

Now mind you, I hadn't said a word...and guys..I am 60 years old...I have never in my life had a cop talk to me like that...I was stunned...He never told us what we did wrong...just motioned us over to his little book and said "sign here"......Here's another one for Mr. Ticket...

Wonder why bikers and cops have a "getting along" problem...now I know....

Couldn't have been the tiger ears and tail I had on my helmet, could it?

You know...I find this kind of behavior totally unacceptable by a police officer...

Should I report this episode to the watch commander?

They need to find this guy a desk job...

I am sure you know that i am a police officer and i agree with you fully. you SHOULD report the incident to the watch commander.

First: an officer should announce his presence (that can be non-verbal since he is in uniform)

Second: you are to be notified of the violation you are receiving.

Third: we are to be direct and to the point, BUT should be courteous. also no arguing

I find his behavior ( IF your thread is COMPLETELY true in the representation of events ) completely unprofessional.

ITS GUYS LIKE HIM THAT GIVE THE REST OF US BAD NAMES

i work in the Hospitality industry and if i would to say that to one of our customers i would be out the door faster than how i ride. perhaps the officer had a bad day but that doesn't give him the right to cuss at you.

Complaint filed with the desk sergeant of Oceanside CHP...and he said that an officer cannot threaten to throw me in jail because of my attitude...a formal investigation will be conducted...

I felt threatened by the officer's conduct and attitude...

I also told him that the officer never advised me why he pulled me over and never informed me of the violation...he just told me to sign the ticket...

most likely he will get a verbal reprimand and the ticket will be dropped. dont push the issue too far because the more stink you make with the higher ups the less they may want to help you out. you dont know what the officer is telling on his side of the story. it is only going to be he said, he said. just let them know you didnt appreciate how you were treated and that you would just like the issue taken care of informally. most likely someone with rank will squash the ticket. most chiefs and sheriffs positions are elected so they want those votes. dont feel bad about speaking up the officer shouldnt get into a whole lot of trouble for the incident.
