I'd recommend going back for the GED first.

You guys are Grammar Nazi's!!!

College, not Collage. A collage is a form of artwork where a collection of many different items form a new whole. Like pictures, newspaper clippings, etc. glued to a piece of paper.

I may not be perfect, but at least I don't ride a Suzuki.

well there is the usual cross road.. work where your passion is.. or work which brings home more money.. personally i prefer the latter.. cos it is a lot more fun keeping your passion as a hobby.. but that is just me.. give us more specifics on what you are currently doing, what is current skill set? are you going back to college after working for a while, or you just finished high school and thinking about a career path.. in any case good luck with your venture..

You need to do something that speaks to your heart, something that calls to you and you enjoy and are good at.

I went down the "it's a good job and it pays well road", mind you, not unhappy, but it's difficult to get excited and jump into something that doesn't call to you, day after day after day. I found something in the field that I really enjoy but it could be much worse. especially if you spend $25 grand to get an education to do something you don't enjoy.

If I could afford it, i'd be a race crew / engineer for a motorcycle race team... second that, I'd work in a custom fab shop for 1 off motorcycle stuff (aka Orange county choppers with out the silly azz drama)...

as it is, i'm making the atoms split, cleaning up the radioactive waste and the like. I'm good at it, but not my dream job.

you can change your major in your second year, pretty much with out a huge problem. That is a dead line... if you find out you aren't happy with what you are studying, start looking around the campus, talk to your guidance people... make your decission by then and you can still grad in 4 years... if you wait too long you will be 5 years or you will have to put in some summer classes (or both)

I have a me and a ee degree but you have to like math And science. I get to work on some pretty sick stuff so it makes it worth it in the end. Really as soon as you get out of school that math goes by the wayside. I pretty much just plug numbers into mathematica or maple and let technology do the heavy lifting. Not every engineer has a pocket protector. If you like building stuff engineering is a great path. Grades do matter alot in engineering degrees so if you choose that you need to kick ass. Plus once you get a decent job they pay you to go back to school! What's better than that?
