Boycott GoDaddy

First off, let me say that I am speaking for nolaZX10. I have no idea where the owners of zx-10r.net stand on this matter and I am NOT speaking for them.

With that being said, you may ask "nolaZX10 why should I boycott GoDaddy?"

Nope not because of the "sexist" ads... I love me some women, the less clothes the better.

Nope not because the CEO hunts elephants... if I had the money to blow I probably would too.

So why?

... because of their position on SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act).

Now just a few words on how it can affect this community. If passed in it's current form the ISPs can be forced to block access to certain IPs that even link to any pirated or copyrighted material. So if somebody posts any copyrighted content or even a link to copyrighted content this site could be toast. Even though this site has nothing to do with piracy and the post was done by some random member, it doesn't matter. SOPA in it's current form is unacceptable.

Now I'm off my soapbox.... have a great day. I have already moved my domains off GoDaddy.

Here is their public statement with their offficial stance. http://support.godaddy.com/godaddy/g...ition-on-sopa/

More information on boycott can be found here: http://godaddyboycott.org/

You are missing the point. Under this it doesn't matter, it wouldn't be like it is now where you get notice to take it down. With SOPA they can just block you. Then you are forced to get the bans lifted, but what happens when that takes months and all of your USA based customers/members run elsewhere because you've been down for months? It is

ps - Good luck moderating EVERYTHING copyrighted on here. That would be a full time job staffed 24/7. Oh that picture member1 just posted, make sure he didn't copy that from some other site. Oh that story member2 just posted, make sure he didn't grab that elsewhere.

I agree with you but personally I don't think this will work with them passing the bill. mostly because of the 1st amendment. 1st amendment protects the freedom of religion, speech, and the press, as well as the right to assemble and petition the government. This is also called censorship which the government is not allowed to do. Internet is mostly the freedom to "troll" (I mean "press" ). I'm sure if it does pass there will be organizations fighting it till the end of time.... and that is next year according the garth285
