Best foreign car to buy for $4000

So I'm going to have about 4k for a car, and I don't even know where the hell to start on this budget. Anyone have any ideas for me? I know I would like something maybe a little sporty and something foreign.

I suppose a bike is an option too, but I don't know what the hell you could get for 4K.

Thanks for any input.

You should be able to find some decent used Hondas(Civic) for that...Plus you can't go wrong with Toyota(Camry) either...Just keep looking and I'm sure you will find something

Civic or Camry would be on my short list, I've seen more than enough of these with 250k+ miles and still going

You'll find a much better bike for $4k then a car. At that price, any import is going to have a lot of miles. I would caution against anything FWD, they are no fun to drive and suck to work on. I just picked up a '98 Grand Marquise touring ed. in perfect shape w/ 60,000 miles for $3900. The only thing it needed was new shocks($120 installed myself). Anything sporty at the same price had 150,000+ miles, or no A/C. You could probably find a decent 240sx or SC300 for that amount.

Do you really want to be driving a crap bucket camry w/ 250,000 miles? Better not get a automatic. J/K Toyotas are reliable, and hold their value well. I just can't see owning one after owning a ZX-010R, it would be depressing.

My wife (before she was a wife) used to have a Nissan Maxima....that thing ran for 230,000 miles and was still going strong when her dad wrecked it. It was a great car. hers was older ('93 i think) but they are all great years.

Her neighbor has a slightly newer one (early 2000's) with 260,000 on it, that his highschool kid drives now. i think that one has had the tranny rebuilt though.

I know it's a four door....maybe nissan put that motor into something smaller/more sporty? With 190 hp, her 4 door moved out pretty well though.

If it aint broken, it doesn't have enough features yet

There are 'glass half empty' people, and 'glass half full' people. Then there are engineers who see that the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

"The four door sports car" maxima. Pretty sure they have always shared the motors from the ZXs.

Sarah Palin and friends can call it a snow machine all they want but Yamaha, Polaris and Bombardier plus the related magazines all seem to call them Snowmobiles.

Snow machines create snow on ski slopes. Just sayin'

The Nissan V-6 is one of the best made 6's on the market. A GREAT powerplant so I've heard/read.

For 4g's I would be looking at bikes personally.
