Bad wreck on snake road ..*graphic pics*

I came upon this wreck today..

Harley rider, no gear, apparently highsided on his harley sportster...

My only theory is that he held the rear brake in the turn and let go and highsided...

He was wearing one of those " skull cap " helmets.

Just a message to people who wear these things and think they have " protection " ... I don't think that a decoration can provide protection to your skull...

here are the pics:

Please - if you know anyone who rides without proper gear, ask them to get a real helmet and link them to this site. This is real life, I don't know if this guy will make it. I got the phone # from one of his friends and I will call to find out how he's doing.. I will post here to update you guys on his status... I don't know him, but I hope he makes it. His skull was badly damaged, he was basically scalped.. I saw more blood from his head than I have ever seen ... he had 4 seperate gashes in his skull with the skin totally seperated form his head... really really bad....

>>> <<< Wear it.

I tell my cruiser friends to gear up everytime I see them but they don't listen. I keep tellin them anyways in hopes that one day it will sink in before the pavement does it for them.

They won't listen.......I have several Harley riding friends and I've talked this point to them more times than I can count. When I ride with them I'm the only one wearing full leathers and proper gear. They laugh.. Their view on this subject is that they don't go fast enough to need all that STUPID stuff.. They live free and die HARD!

Pictures like these although very graphic in nature don't do a thing to stop them from killing their self. It's a sad case indeed... They live to be viewed as a bad ass and NOT someone that takes care of protecting their own self.

I'd say 99 percent of Harley riders ride like that. I hope he recovers. Keep us updated.

Ouch, we seem to be reminded over and over and over again how important proper riding gear is by various accidents lately! I insist on proper riding gear!

I just hope that even if just one person learns a lesson from this post and goes out and buys gear that it will make a difference in the world.

I know that if this guy in the pics would have been wearing the proper gear that he would be very appreciative right now....

It did'nt look like a "skid lid" helmet from the pics. It looks like a half helmet DOT that only covers the top. Anyways, everyone makes their own choice in life some listen some don't. I just hope he did'nt have any children. If he makes it he's gonna have a long time for recovery.... Ride safe bros.

Damn. Reality is that although it may look "cool" to ride with little to no gear, you're taking your life into your own hands moreso than if you wore proper PPE. Nevertheless, I hate to see anyone get hurt, so may God bless this unfortunate individual, and help him to a speedy recovery.

From the looks of the helmet, or what's left of it, he must have had major trauma to the brain. :headshake

Some days will stay a thousand years, some pass like the flash of a spark.
