Aftermarket auto warranties for older vehicles

saw an ad for us fidelis on the tube the other night and thought id give them a call about getting a warranty for my '99 passport as i am sure that the tranny will shit the sheets soon. got the hard sell and "you must buy now or we will put you on a list and you wont be able to buy from us ever again" mumbo jumbo...when all i wanted was a little info on what they offered. so i did a little pokin around on the web and sho nuff, there are a lot of reports out there of this company being rip off artists...found roughly the same rhetoric about other after-market warranties as well...my question is this: has anyone here bought an aftermarket warranty for an older model car and NOT felt like they had bent over without the courtesy of a little K-J and a reach around?

Screw the aftermarket warranty, you know the car will break eventually. This is what you should do assuming your done making payments. You should take the money you would have used for payments and put it away for future repairs. At least that's what I do and most of the time still come out ahead especially if you do alot of your own maint.

These warranty companies are like Casinos if you ask me. They're not in the business of losing money, it is after all a business. When i think of this stuff i just know that the net-flow of cash to them is IN so i'm not keen on giving any of them my money. ahaha.

Wick, only get an extended warranty from the original manufacturer if it is possible for you. I got one for the '00 Expedition from Ford a little while back, and will get one for momma's Mazda3 and the Ducati when the time comes. Couldn't get one for the 10 since it was in an accident and wasn't eligible. As I am typing this the commercial came on that you spoke of......ironic.
