Advertising banners (location)

Hi all,

I am trying to get some ad banner software working with the phpBB software (boy is that fun).

I think I have it working semi properly but if there are some problems please let me know.

Right now the banners are running only in the "off topic" section while I do some further testing.

As far as locations of the banner, we can do the following locations:

1. Top of overall forum (image 1)
2. Top of topic area (image 2) (It needs to be fixed & centered)
3. Bottom of overall forum (image 3)

Obviously #3 would be the least intrusive but also least interesting to sponsors

#1 might be the way to go as this is kinda the standard.

#2 is a little more in your face (& thanks to my coding is also kinda off center) & needs to be tweaked so it sits in the right area.

Anyway, I want some honest feedback please. Are banner ads so intrusive that it would make you not enjoy your site visit here?

Honestly I am kinda anti banner myself but if I could get some sponsors that would help finance the site, it could help pay for the picture hosting I want to give you folks. It would be nice for you to be able to attach an image to a post & right now we cant afford the space & extra bandwidth.

So, please give me some feedback either by PM or email ([email protected])
Thanks,
Rich

Rich, I didn't vote yet cause there is a glaring omission! What if I want to vote "Yes, I want to see advertising."

I think that if you're putting the time and money into running this board it's not asking too much for you to put in some advertising without any bitching from the Peanut Gallery.

I dont have a problem with the ads
the advertisers help to provide us with this great FREE site plus they give the members here great deals on products and services
I know when I need or want something the first companies I go to are the ones that support the sites I visit. Plus the member feedback about these companies helps to influence decisions

I actually didn't notice it until I read Andy's post and started searching for it

I once said "Displacement was compensation for lack of skill. Therefore, there is no need for anything more than a well balanced 600." Right, who was I kidding.

I voted that I didn't care. This is because I use ad blockers so I never see them anyway...
