2008 ZX-8R.. I Wish...

Found this on a website....

http://www.raptorsandrockets.com/News/2007_Kawasaki.htm

We know that Kawasaki have left a few surprises for us until later this year. A new Z750 will most likely be unveiled at the EICMA show in Milan in November. It will get Z1000 front and rear end styling points, but still a 4 into 1 exhaust. More exciting are the rumours about a new 800cc Ninja roadbike. Kawasaki dropped the 636 from its model line-up this year and the 750 was dropped several years ago leaving a big gap between the ZX-6R and ZX-10R. Now that WSBK regulation is out in the open when displacement for V-twins are concerned, the in-line four might get bigger too. That leaves an even bigger gap between the 600 and let's say a 1050-1100cc in-line four. With MotoGP going 800 in 2007 there are some synergy effects to consider and the ZX-8R could be Kawasaki's answer. We instructed our designer to make it as much MotoGP as possible, but expect something like this to bear similarities to the new ZX-6R. We hope Kawasaki will launch an 800 to compete with the GSX-R750 even though there are no race series for these machines anymore. Go on Kawasaki, we dare you! Kawasaki Euro marketing boss Leo Schlueter commented: "No comment" and UK marketing manager Martin Lambert commented he wouldn't speak to me on or off the record about new models. We assume in case something would slip. By Tor Sagen/CG by Luc1

Well, since there is no official word on this bike, I would have to say that it look like it is gonna be a photoshopped picture... But I am just excited that there is a possibilty...

I went from riding 750's since 1998 (GSXR's) and currently race a 750. I was glad to make the leap to a liter bike.

I find the extra 30hp quite fun. Im one of the guys who could give a shit less if a 750 comes out.

The the 750 cc range does have its popularity; i personally feel the 600 and 1000'c though they do have a large gap do fill the void most riders look for.

Coming off modern 750's i feel its harder to justify them today. The 600's are off the charts for power these days. Consider the new ZX6R makes very close; if not as much power as the ole ZX7 did. And the liter bikes.....with power to amaze anyone are as light as 600's of only a few years ago.

I mean i remember when 600's were high 80 mid 90hp ranges......so people wanted 750's......110-120hp range because the higher hp bikes like the ZX11, CBRXX, even the busa were heavy................so a 750 was appealing being it was higher in HP than a 600 but way lighter than a big bore.

But shoot these days.......the 750 really is not going to be much real world lb's less than a liter bike......but will have less power; and only a few more than a 600.

I hear what you are saying, but I remember how well I fit on the 750. I would love to see them maybe gear it toward street riding. Maybe not so tight, but a little comfort. I know I'm too big for the 600 and the 1000 has plenty extra power. I think there is a place for a great bike for the street. I know I could use a little bigger trunk... :)

But I hear 06450F, for racing, I think you have found the right bike. I don't do any track riding, so a middle of the road sport bike would be a great fit. But I still have my 10 and I ain't gonna sell it...

that zx8r picture looks like they re-used the "catfish" photoshop of what the 07 zx6r was "supposed" to look like.

with that said, it looks ugly and i hate the new styling on the new 6 and 10. an 800cc bike that looks like the old 10r would be sweeeet.

I don't think that there is as much of a gap as what people a saying. Bottom line is that, the current crop of 600's are busting stock lap times of 750 superbikes of the past. Honda has got more torque out of the CBRR, and the torque is the ONLY missing link that would make me wanna go to a 750. So, IMHO, there really isn't a gap.

I myself fully support Kawi re-introducing a 750 or even 800. I would buy it. I love my 10R, but don't use the power. I love the feel of the 750. I am not power hungry, but I like it on tap when I want it. I owned a 91 ZX7 and the 7R has been my favorit bike since 91, didn't care much for the 89 model. BUt something with looks similar to a cross breed of the 6R and 10R would be nice IMHO.

Suzuki have done nicely out of the 750, possibly Kawasaki want some of that.

I have always thought that the 600s are too revy and highly strung to be fun on the street even though they put out loads of peak horsepower.

IMHO were it not for racing the 600 class is a waste of space. A 750/800 is a good size for a motorbike but for me only if there is some other advantage over the 1000. After all you are trading nice low and mid range torque for something peakier with less horsepower. For f...ks sake we buy motorbikes for power so what is the preoccupation with smaller motorbikes.

I have never gone out on my ZX-10R and mused about how wonderful it would be to have 30 less horsepower.
