2 dead after fall from Bush Turnpike bridge

Witnesses: Man pushed woman off bridge, then jumped

07:16 PM CDT on Thursday, June 10, 2004

By TIARA M. ELLIS / The Dallas Morning News

PLANO - A man pulled a woman out of a car atop the George Bush Turnpike and pushed her off an 85-foot overpass before jumping into rush-hour traffic below, witnesses told police Thursday.

The woman landed on the hood of a car on the Central Expressway, was dragged for a short distance, fell off and was hit by another vehicle, police said. She died at the scene, according to Richardson Police Sgt. Kevin Perlich.
WFAA-TV
Police blocked off lanes on both Central Expressway and the Bush Turnpike.

The man was transported to a hospital in Richardson, where he was pronounced dead.

Sgt. Perlich said a witness saw the pair, who have not yet been identified, arguing in a 2000 Mercedes that was parked on the eastbound side of the Turnpike, directly over Central Expressways south lanes.

He saw him forcibly remove the woman from the vehicle and push her over the bridge, Sgt. Perlich said.

The witness then pulled over and tried to back up to assist, Sgt. Perlich said. At that point, the man jumped. It was about 5:20 p.m.

By 6:50 p.m., all southbound traffic exiting and reentering at the Renner Road exit.

The northbound traffic was slowly moving through.

There's crazy shit happening all over the world. This has got to be one of the most horrible ways to die, the girl was 21 years old. Pretty damn sad if you ask me.
