What part of Michigan you in?

I've used schnitz for flashes before with no issues, get a pcv and tune yourself starting with a basemap.

that makes sense since the engine config didnt change much at all

if the engine is staying stock, and then its just a matter of the mods your place around it, but they should both have the same or similar potential

the newest gen5 changes that though with the valvetrain upgrades.

Yes they did change a few things but kawasaki spec shows both gens putting out equal Oem numbers right off the showroom floor, tune and mods determine outcome from there, gen 5 is easier to unlock full potential, gen 4 requires a good tuner to do the same

Really phenomenal that you can reach 200 MPH with a few minor mods.

Makes me jealous that I'm stuck on a Ninja 250 for at least 3 years...

Anyway.

i believe the major changes were external to the engine, like airbox and QS and stuff.

until this year... the valvetrain changes give the newest gen5 an advantage internally

In chatting with someone who tunes and dynos I asked if he had seen a difference in hp between gen 4 and 5 zx10rs, and he said there's typically a few percent increase in hp in the gen 5 over the gen 4. I'd love to ask brocks and guhl the same question.

Whether that translates to faster depends on many factors, a lighter bike with slightly less horsepower could still be faster. What made the gen5 12 pounds heavier?
