I didn't wanted to know the answer, but my stator went south, so after disconnected the trickle charger and went to ride, it worked about 2 hours and/or 100 km (~60 miles). Then suddenly it lost the dash and soon after that the fuel pressure diminished (or the injectors haven't had enough power, it really doesn't matter, bike was dead soon).

Damn, tough crowd, took almost a year, but here's the answer to my original question. Thanks for doing the R&D man!

an old triumph datona I had would first start to have the headlights dim and brighten and then the idle would start getting rough and or weak. then the dash would go and it was game over. if it ever happens and you need to get home unplug your headlights. they use more power than anything else so you should be able to make it home

You're welcome - a bit shite feeling when you make this kind of scientific breakthrough with a freshly bought used bike, but at least it was a week before end of season. Seems like that stator failure around 20k kms on this gen (2) accurate. For approx. $80 in local currency a guy renewed the stator and also tested the R/R as his requirement of warranty for his work (1 year money back if it fails). I'm thinking about buying a Shindengen SH847 R/R (series) to replace the oem one as the stator maxes out it's current @ 5000 rpm so it runs almost all time @ full (amperage) load even when just cruising along.
