The clutch cover... I seriously thought about calling up there and complaining. I'm not sure it's worth it. It's not gouged, but clearly the tech didn't give a shit when removing/ installing the cover and scratched it pretty good. I'm sure they'd warranty it. But do I want then touching my bike again? Not really! lol.

Anyway, I ripped her yesterday afternoon for about 45 mins. Had one issue where hard launch shifting into 2nd, it fell into neutral. But, I have new boots and I'm pretty sure that was my big ass feet causing it. No other issues to report. *New set of Michelin Pilot RS's installed a while back. They are damn fine tires. Ran some clovers for a few minutes and man, I miss dragging knee. Time to get to the track again.
How many miles on your power rs's?

Shoot man, like 100 so far. My buddy is running them on the Monster 1200S I sold him. We ran Arkansas on them last year and they were sticky as hell. The Monster destroys tires (torque and HP heavy) and they looked great after knee dragging fun.

I've not heard anything negative about them regardless.

I'm kinda of depressed hearing all the "but this" or "but that" experiences after the recall... if everyone is having issues I'm kinda not looking forward to this service. Oh well. :'(

When in doubt... send it!

Might depend on your dealership and their quality of work, but I've had both bikes done, and the race bike and the B/street bike with zero issues on either. Two race rounds on the race bike, and multiple rides on the street bike.

Since it was out and I was about to take it apart I decided to send it to EDR Performance for a micro polish and have it race shimmed as well. Now it spins super smooth and effortless. Just got it back and just waiting on some free time to get it back together. Have a few other loose ends to tie up on the bike before it heads back to the track.
Man I wish I had that option! I was considering doing something similar with the micropolishing and possibly undercutting. Did you notice much of a difference after the work was done? I'm sure the shimming helped for sure, but did you notice any difference with the micro polish?

Had my 2016 ZX10R done a few months ago. Everything worked ok (shifted up/down with no problems), but 2nd gear seemed to develop a whine over 4k RPM. Didn't seem to be anything serious, but just...different...

You guys are doing nothing to increase my confidence with all of this talk of scratched cases etc...lol, ordered the parts yesterday and dealer will call me when they come in, probably at least a month as the kits are on back order.

Dealer told me they have done a bunch of them and the tech that does them all is a CMRA racer, the guy looks like he knows what he's doing as he maintains his own race bike.

I don't get all these scratched clutch covers though, I did the clutch on my Gen 4 awhile back and some gentle love taps with a dead blow mallet separated it from the motor without any issues.

Sounds like the techs are getting careless.

Dealer just called, parts are in and I'm scheduled for September 12 to perform the recall. He said to ride it in when they open in the morning and disappear for a few hours while they knock this out. I won't lie, I'm nervous about anyone else working on my bike but I think it'll all be fine.

Don't stress... I was a little nervous at first especially since some people left the dealer with scratched cased. TBH my case had the tiniest scratch on it when I got it back (not a big enough scratch to lose the bike another week to a month while the dealer replaces it) and I actually ended up getting GB Case Covers down the road so you can't even see the case anymore lol.

When in doubt... send it!
