Why? It will kill your power slinging a stupid fat ass tire that size with dual chains. It might look "mean" parked in the Starbucks lot on Friday night, but it's practically useless otherwise. A 240 is the widest you can go without running a secondary offset chain drive system. I'd venture a guess that you'd lose about 20-30Hp with such a setup due to the extra weight and frictional losses. :headshake

Your bike, your money, your decision, but I'm here to tell you it's stupid.

I may not be perfect, but at least I don't ride a Suzuki.

Ridding the Internet of bad grammar, 1 post at a time.

I know I'll lose the power... its just a thought. I love the looks.. I would go single sided.. I do ride it alot and I know I'll lose a lot of cornering... like I said its just a thought.. thank you all for your opinions..

I totally agree.... its just a lot of money to put on and not like... my point was to find people that have them or even the 240 kit. I don't want a major stretch

It's one thing to recognize that this won't be an ultimate knee-dragging setup ... but it's pretty likely that the handling characteristics would become so abysmally poor that it will affect even normal day-to-day riding.

But ... I am not one who "gets" modifying a bike just to look a certain way - I refuse to describe it as "good", because in my book, form has to follow function. Sport bike with light wheels and suspension goodies and tires chewed up to the edges indicating that it gets leaned way over on the track ... I "get" that. Or another liter-plus bike with a longer arm and shortened gearing and quick shifter etc with the time slips to prove it out ... I "get" that, too.

The engineering background in me, refuses to condone something that makes the bike worse in objective terms, and there is no way that a 300-width rear tire is going to be anything but worse in terms of steering, handling characteristics, weight, etc. I just cannot think of a single way in which this would technically improve the bike, and I can think of plenty of ways in which it will make it worse.

Helibars, MRA screen, Ohlins damper, reversed shift pattern, sorted suspension, braided lines, Michelin Pilot Power, all else stock 'coz it's fast enough!
