Should the rear wheel be forward or back

I'm putting on a new chain and sprockets and have a chance to put the wheel where I want it. the bike is a 2012 zx10r. I ride hard in the mountin roads

Put your adjustments all the way In and cut your chain 1 link longer thank all the way in.

Move forward. I just did that, and had to buy a couple shorter alignment bolts at the hardware store. I still move the wheel forward, maybe half inch or so.
