Fork Swap to 07

I did my best with what was available in the search forum. I apologize to anyone who may be aggravated by reading a repeat thread. My advice would be to create forum for the various mods available for the ZX10 and or confirmed swap configurations.

Can someone tell me if 04-05 ZX10 fork tubes will fit an 07 ZX10?

Thanks!

I think the tubes are 43mm..I could be wrong. I was just hoping that the 05 tubes were the same as the 07. I just like the color of those forks better.

If I'm not mistaken, the gen 2 forks are a tad longer

05 uses 20mm internals and are 50mm tubes

06-07 uses 25mm internals and is 50mm tubes

If your are using 06-07 fork tubes you will need the triple and possibly switch the stem to and 04-05 so it will mount in the 04-05

The triple on both years have differnt spacing between the forks etc also 06 is Mitch beefier then 04-05 triple

Tyler, just a heads up ALL cartridges are 20mm internals (cartridges) with the exception of the last gen R1s and the BPF. Aftermarket are 25 and 30 mm.

The outer tubes of the 2nd gen is a little longer than the first gen (about 5 mm).

You're better off getting the ones you have now anodized or powder-coated.

That's my problem..I don't have ANY forks and was looking at using the 04-05 fork tubes with my 07. I thought the 04-05 might bolt right up to 07 triples.

Technically the 04-05 will bolt into the triples because they are the same diameter outer tube. But being that the length is different its going to change geometry of the bike. Also you would have to verify the 07 wheel, brakes, fender would fit.

Yep, that's really the answer I was looking for. In summary it can be done but the 04/5's are shorter. Thanks guys.
