Most undertails for the Gen 1 cause the tail section to crack the top mounting tabs. Basically you're removing the bracing that holds the tail section from the bottom and then the undertail adds more weight to it.

Your best bet to clean up the rear is to get some Gregg's Customs turn signals. They brace the tail section from the bottom like the stock fender does.

I recently used this one on my gen1

It comes with small spacers so that it bolts firm against the subframe and plastic tray section, seems very secure and unlikely to damage the tail.

Indeed. Greggs customs undertail eliminator is the way to go. He has some gen1 ones still around. Just bought one for my second gen1 for a good price. Get them direct from him. Just email [email protected]s.com

That is similar to the GC, but not as refined. Not too bad though.
