Do not buy this crap!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/400484299882...witem=&vxp=mtr

I have bought aftermarket integrated tail lights before for my other Gen1 with no problem what so ever. Bought this piece of cheap trash from these losers who say I do not know how to install it and I should get a professional to install it. First of all the OEM plug from the bike does not plug into the damn thing. The receptacle on the tail light is bigger than the fucking OEM plug. Second, when I ran some test wires to it to see if it even works the damn thing is wired ass backwards. Stay away from these ass hats.

I needed a replacement once and got one of those from ebay. Almost same problem as you, the receptacle fit but was wired backwards. What I did was dremel off the locking tab so I could put the factory plug in upside down. it was a snug fit and worked fine after that.

If they would have been honest that it is wired backwards and requires some dremeling to make it fit, that would have been fine with me. I actually did that because they won't take it back. I should have figured that for the price if was not legit. The one I bought for my other Gen 1 was 75 bucks and easy peasy install. Anyway, I got it to work.

Thanks, I am pretty skilled with tools and making things....so as long as I am aware. It's like buying some race fairings that require drilling. They tell you that you gotta do that. These jerk offs tried telling me I don't know what I am doing and that pissed me the hell off.

Well, enough of that. I don't care anymore. Just don't want others buying from these yahoos.
