They ask because they want to know if they have to change the oil in it. Its due every 3600 miles. LOL, I dont get it either. Really would you rather have 5000 miles on it in perfect shape or 800 miles on it, having never been wash and sitting out all winter, etc?

Because some pipes packing burns off slowly. Not in most quality pipes, but I know old FMF street pipes used to need re-packing every 5k miles or so (worst offenders).

I had someone ask me once when I was selling the velocity stacks on my 636, how many miles were on them. How many miles? On velocity stacks?

well my bike is always in the garage if not being ridden , i never commute on it so never left in the sun , if you seen a growler there no packing to burn . never been washed with water , just wiped and cleaned , this is in perfect shape PS no oil change needed :)

I think most people ask stuff like that because they truly have no idea!

I disagree, most prob still think that after so many miles they need to be repacked. Prob not so much in the pipes like these, but it is a traditional question. I cant say i wouldnt have wondered/ asked.
