this is why im ordering Marchesini Forged Aluminum Wheel Kawasaki ZX10R

REDUCING THE WEIGHT OF YOUR WHEELS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PERFORMANCE CHANGE THAT YOU CAN MAKE TO YOU MOTORCYCLE!

Lighter wheels will make a major difference in the handling of your bike. They will also greatly improve the acceleration and deceleration “braking” of your bike for the following reasons.

Static Weight: Each ounce of reduction of the wheels weight is equivalent to 4 ounces on the sprung part of the bike. Magnesium wheels will normally weigh at least 10 pounds less than your stock aluminum wheels. This is equal to 40 pounds of weight reduction on the bike.

Dynamic Weight: This is the weight reduction on the rim of the wheel and this is where the action is. EACH OUNCE OF WEIGHT REDUCTION ON THE RIM IS EQUAL TO ABOUT 24 POUNDS OF WEIGHT AT 100 MPH! ..Price: $ 2,199.95 is there a better price ?????

That is true but for most racing organizations and for most classes aftermarket wheels are illegal. Also most modern sportbike wheels are pretty light to begin with. Case in point 04-05 ZX10R stocks wheels weigh 9.3lbs front and 16.1 lbs rear. PVM Front Cast Aluminum Wheel is 10 lbs. front and 17.75 rear. Galespeed front wheel is 10.45 lbs. and rear 18 lbs even for forged aluminum. The Marchesini wheels I believe is 8.75 lbs. front and 15 lbs. rear for forged aluminum. So yes having lighter wheels can make a difference and unsprung weight is a big deal but be careful which wheels you buy because not all wheels are lighter.

well to tell the truth , i have bent stock rims and insurance is cutting a check for me , so instead of getting stock wheels again , for a few dollars out of my pocket I'm getting the best . plus you are right about the weight with the wheels . but the stock wheels have a lot more of the weight near the outer edge of the rim . and the Marchesini wheels are very light so the unsprung weight is a lot better . plus i only do track days , and this will make the day much better wont have to work so hard to turn the bike , I'm 43 and great shape but smarter all i want is to have fun , and if the wheels help me then there worth every penny .

Absolutely the wheels help and in your case I would have done the exact same thing. I was just making the point that be careful what wheels you get because not all wheels are lighter then stock and if you are racing, the majority of classes and organizations ban aftermarket wheels.

Huh...yes, true with carbon fiber wheels.....not with all other brands/type

EXCEPT if you're racing superstock.

I've been testing 16.5 marchesini mag on my 05 (set will go on my '06).

Weight difference is not great ( I'll will gain MUCH more with the front ) mostly cause the

16.5 Pirelli slick REAR is a LOT of rubber, gotta pay for that nice comfy patch:

(BOTH wheels with cush drive, sprocket, same (machined) trick rotor)

* (05) Oem rim with (slightly) used Pirelli race DOT: 30 lbs 12 oz.

* Marchesini 16.5 mag. with (new) Prelli Diablo Superbike: 28 lbs 10 oz.

Difference: - 2 lbs 2 oz ( but it's rotational weight ).

Very true about production classes but even for me Open Superbike in AFM as of last year wheels must remain stock. I know a few other classes in a few different organizations that also make that a rule but I could be wrong because that is as of 2008 rulebook. I didn't apply this year yet so I haven't really read the rulebook. But 16.5 wheels make a huge difference and I wish I could run them.

I've seen group buys for somewhere in the $1700 range on various forums.

Yeah you will hear varying info on wheels and weights, but the one thing that seems to be common is the aftermarket FEEL better and aid in handling even if the same weight.

I run the carrozerria wheels on my 10R and it made a nice handling difference, easier to transition especially when the speed is 70MPH or more, epseically on track.
Given i have not had a chance to try BST's on the 10R, as i opted for them to go on my 636, but 9R to 10R has and he can give you more info on them than i on the 10R but i am sure it has be night and day difference even compared to some aftermarket forged aluminum jobs.
