fat/big guys on 10R's,i have questions
I was wondering how many big fellas ride zx-10's, and also have questions and comments to make. 1st,im 265lbs and have found the bike, my "07 10" to be quite comfey for my fat ass. The problem i have found is the bike doesnt really like to accelarate, infact i have played around with amys (my girlfriend) 2003 636 in some roll-ons from 60-70 mph range and 6th gear, and its embarrasing for me to say but she pulls a bike lenght on me. She will run hers up to around 130mph or so but my bike will not go around hers, i know she ways 85 lbs less than me but i figured the 10's hp would make up the diffrence. Also im going to have a friend help me set the sag and was wondering if the stock springs can be adjusted enough for my weight or do i need to look elsewhere for stiffer springs. What are good sag #'s for street riding/back road carving.Come to think of it i think my bike boggs a little while rapidly opening the throttle like when we do roll-ons. My 10 is stock with the exception of scorpion stainless bolt-ons.

Hey Cott,
I was just about to create a similar topic when I seen yours. I am about to trade in my 05 12r for a 10r or a 14, but I cannot decide which one yet. The 14 is supercomfy, and the ten felt really small under me, as I am 6' 2" and 240lbs. Can I see pics of big guys on there 06-07 10r's?

have your bike checked...
I'm currently at about 265lbs also . But I know my bike wouldn't have any problems leaving a 600 bike behind in a straight line, no matter how light the 600 rider is.

Hey Cott10r,
Nice to know I'm not the only fat ass on the 10R..haha.. (270lbs w/ gear) it's not fat..we're just big boned.
I'm planning on changing the shock and doing a fork mod as soon as I run in 4K on my '07. The brakes also seem a bit weak..gonna get a new M/C, S.S. lines and pads.
I'd say you should change the springs for the suspension as a minimum for safety and performance reasons. (My shock bottoms out) It will also let you use the recommended suspension settings instead tinkering too much trying to compensate for the spring rate. (I don't think it's even within range for our weight - I've tried to set it maximum and it makes my ass numb).
As I haven't really run in the engine I haven't done much in terms of racing anyone. I'm probrably going to get a +2 in the rear to try it out first, although many are just opting for the 16t (-1 in front and greater acceleration) instead. There's not much harm done in trying either option out as it swaps back in easily and is relatively inexpensive.
If you do go with a new sprocket you may want a speedo healer to compensate for the milage if that's important to you.
Oh yeah ... I've also ordered the 1/5 from Rifleman and it's pretty damn awesome. Another inexpensive mod you may want to consider... feels faster anyway :P

I'm 6'2...220 lbs
Could not set the SAG up front with oem spring...had forks resprung and
revalved at Chassis Dynamics, great shop..
www.motorcyclechassisdynamics.com
Also, on the track, differences (Wot) between a stock liter bike(mine) and
a well tuned 600 on race gas are not huge, especially if the dude on smaller
bike is 50 pounds lighter..

My 10r out pulled my cousins 636 easy. I am 6'1" about 250lbs (with all the gear). He is 180-190. No problem here and yeah, the bike is actually confortable. It actually feels better to me than my 2002 Suzuki Katana I had before.

What I meant is that I pass easily 600 and 750's on the banking at Fontana
but it's another story on a tight track like Streets of Willow or Pahrump.
