Can you have too much power? No, That's like having too much Money
I bought my 10 not so long ago, and I am already wanting to make it faster. When I first got it felt like a rocket. The more I get used to it the slower it feels( I didnt say slow I said slower) . I would like to make it so fast you might die if you stare at it too long, but whos to say that I wouldn't get used to it in that condition. Have any of you ran into this on you built bikes. I read a thing on SR-71 pilots that said after a few missions they got used to the planes thrust. They really didnt notice how fast it was until later when they flew F4 phatoms or F16s. It made them fell like flying turds. Should I stop now while my check book is ahead.

while you have your checkbook out,
I would write my first check for improving the suspension / setup. only then will you be able to use Power you got now and power you hope to add later. think of it this way You could add a 1100 HP engine to a scooter but how much throttle are you willing to give it ? HP without a mated platform means nothing Spend wise and enjoy |

I am wanting to upgrade my suspension as well. Can't ride a high HP without the suspension hooked up correctly

short answer: yes
Mine's for sale for that reason. Its more fun to ride a slow bike faster than a faster bike slower. :) |

Well thats another thing. I want to start with suspention, but I'm a motocross racer. I could setup a motocross bike myself. I know what a works bike should ride like. I know nothing about a superbike, neither anyone who does. I also know how fast you can make a bike ride like sh*t. Who does the best tuning. Should I buy aftermarket or have the stockers reworked

buy aftermarket for sure. although i have not done it, i know many who have, and a rear shock (ohlins, penske, or elka) is suposed to dramatically change the attitude of this bike. my buddy put an ohlins on his 04 10r, and dropped almost 2 secs of his lap time at t-hill. his bike is in another league than mine now. i would recommend that mod before any others. if you are lookin for a cheap way to make your bike a little quicker, i know a lot of guys do the -1/+2 conversion with a 520 chain. i did the -1, but felt the +2 was to much for my mostly street ridden bike. good luck, bro.

How did just the -1 do. I'v been thinkin of doing the -1/+2 but I dont want it to turn a shit load of RPMs at 60.

16t is great. I don't see the need to add 2 to the back. That is overkill imho.
The older you get, the more you notice the speed because you think about the consequences more. For me, that comes from witnessing people killed, maimed, etc. I sold bikes for a living in my twenties, and I sold bikes to people that got tossed. A human being is like a big tomato wrapped in a leather skin. Life and our bikes hang in a delicate balance of physics, geometry, skill, and luck. I love my bike. I put more and more into it because I enjoy fiddling with it, and making it perform a little better with each mod. But you should never get immune to the risks or the reality of what these bikes can do. I had a 1989 ZX-7.... It was over 100lbs heavier than my ZX-10 and it was 1/2 the horsepower: 89rwhp. I've been riding sportbikes for over 20 years. So for me, I still remember when sportbikes were literally pigs. The fact that you can buy a bike today that is faster than GP bikes of years gone by is simply amazing. The 1098 Ducati is a twin that delivers 148 rear wheel horsepower STOCK. That is just absurd. This is a great time to ride, and whatever you do, don't get TOO used to the speed. Good skills can make you a lot faster, and a lot safer.

Dude I feel the same way after owning 9 second daily driver street cars, seems like everything I drive feels like a turd, Vipers, TT 996's, Lambo's, 360's, ect.(I manage an exotic car dealership), guys get mad at me when they say how did you like my 700hp 996 and I say runs good for an 11 second slug.
