Bent my damn rim!!!!! F%@#!!!!!

Took my bike outta the garage today and as i was backing it out i noticed my front wheel is bent! I thought i was seeing things or at first? I kept lookin at it like damn is my wheel bent? I put it up on the stands and spun the front wheel and it started wobbling, sure enough it is bent! The left side has a slight bend in it, and it isn't round with the tire anymore. Damn rugged streets in NYC bent my shit up!!! I was up there for labor day cruising around. Funny thing is i remember hitting some extra hard bumps but i didn't think i bent my rim??? Thatz weird i didn't notice it until now. I was like fuuuck man!!! Itz gonna cost me alot of money to get it fixed! Money i don't have right now!! Dealer wants $500 brand new!! Krazy!!! I probably can get me a half descent used one off of ebay for $200? Then i'm gonna have to get it chromed! Thatz another $300? Plus i'm gonna have to wait!! Shit!!! I might have to pack my season in early?

Look into getting the rim straightened if it's not too bad. There's a place in PA which escapes my mind right now that does wheel straightening and another in Glen Burnie, MD called the Ye Ol Wheel Shop. I also think the GMD Computrack place in Scranton might do wheel straightening but not sure.

Please do not straighten a front wheel, these wheels are cast and once bent will never be the same.
Forged wheels are different (marc. and magtan)

I guess my best bet is to just play it safe and get a new wheel? Someone else was telling me that i might not even need a wheel at all? They said it might not affect how the bike rides, and it just may be cosmetic? Even if it is cosmetic the fact that i know itz bent and can see it is gonna bother me!

Zig, how bad is the bent?
I would NOT buy a new or used one. Could be an once upon a bent rim? Or a defected recall 04 rim, but new? Who knows.
You can have it fixed without any problem, it still holds air compression. Right?
So it must not be that bad.
Man just talk to some rim shops. Some car rim shops can fix that!

That sucks.
Thought I bent mine last night for sure, I saw the damn cat but he changed direction last second like a squirrel.
He may have gotten lucky cause I only felt a bump through bars not rear tire.
No blood found, never looked back, was probably doing about 50 or more so no chance I was goiing to brake, skid on him and wipe- just grabbed throttle.

rojapar is on a distinguished road
well, last night, i pulled a stupid move and could have possibly bent my rim. i was trying to get the front sprocket off and didnt have anyone to help me. i came up with the bright idea of sticking a rake handle through the wheel and letting it rest on top of the swingarm to keep the wheel from turning while i broke the sprocket nut loose. i got a ratchet and put a 4 foot piece of pipe over the end as a cheater and gave it all i had. all of a suddon, the rake snapped in half with a bang. i had no idea the wheel would have had that much torque transfered to it.

i spun the wheel around and could not visually tell if i bent anything. im hoping it will be alright. i guess i will have to ride it and see if it wobbles or else take it to the tire shop and have them put it on the machine to see.

what do you guys think? think i could have damaged the wheel with my slick move?
