Question Dynojet PCV vs Bazzaz Z-Fi, which one?

The Bazzaz seems to be a better unit in that it controls all eight injectors from the one unit whereas the Dynojet requires a secondary fuel module to do all eight (extra cost and extra kit under the seat).

The PCV seems to have a larger following, and might therefore be more reliable? Lots of posts on firmware issues though.

Both units seem to have issues with Australian G4s. The PCV requires a special part not available outside Australia (O2 Eliminator/optimizer (#76125020)). Can't determine what the Bazzaz needs.

Seems to be issues with a "closed loop system" on both with the Australian G4, something to do with requiring the O2 optimizer AND a second wide bang bung if you want to run either manufacturer's autotune.

I'm leaning towards the Bazzaz but concerned about reliability/take up. I just want to have the right fueling with an Akra + link pipe, half a dozen track days a year, lots of spirited riding, no racing, have an Annitori quickshifter on order.

Comments?

Tks,
A.

I've got your setup pretty much. Akra, link pipe, and K&N... My Bazzaz seems to be working well do far.

Dyno read peaked out at 180HP, and 150HP midrange... Feels smooth throughout, and overall pretty stable.

Lumiera, you run the Bazzaz without a sensor? Is it the Bazzaz that comes with the pre-set maps, or the custom one (needs to be dynoed)? That's if I understand it right ... and there's no guarantee of that.

My factory sensor is still in place... I'm trying to clarify if this causes any issues or not. Seems no one actually knows for sure??

Bazzaz claim that you can remove the sensor with no issues, however then you get an FI light. The negative there is that Bazzaz don't supply an eliminator with the ZX10 G4 kit.

It's confusing the hell out of me! However yes, it was dyno'ed and my mechanic uploaded a custom map for me based on all mods I have installed.

I'm in touch with Gas Imports who are the Bazzaz distributors in Australia to clarify if an O2 eliminator is needed.

The Z-Fi looks like better tech, but I don't know enough about the merits of each yet to make a call.

Sadly no, I looked into that, it seemed like the perfect solution but it removes some functionality I'll need on the road. For track only it would be perfect.

I so wish Kawasaki would let us access/tune our stock ECUs so we didn't need to have either a PCV or Z-Fi.

Thank you for writing. As far as we know our system comes with everything you need to tune your bike without having to add anything extra. We have not heard from anyone that our system is causing this bike to throw off any FI codes. Please let me know if you have any other questions and I will be more than happy to assist you.

Regards,

Rich McGee
Not exactly the response I was looking for. I specifically asked if anything needed to be done to the stock O2 sensor if you used their autotune module.

Hasn't inspired confidence. I'd rather not have a "as far as we know", that's not good enough. I need a "it'll work if you use parts x and y".

Poor effort!! I've actually emailed the U.S to see if they can weigh in it any advice. And I did try to reach the Aussie product specialist aswell... Just waiting to hear back from either...

The situation really seems to be whether or not to ditch the factory o2 sensor. For autotune I'm hearing you can just get rid of the factory and run the Bazzaz sensor. Then get rid of the autotune and just plug the bung.

My biggest concern is does the factory sensor if running with the ZFI mess with the new map at low revvs? And if yes, should it be pulled and remapped without it?

Or if it has no effect at all, can I just ditch the sensor and use an elim.

No one has the real answers on these issues, and it's very frustrating.

It's all as you say "as far as we know"..."I'm unaware of any problems"!!!

How about testing your products properly and giving definitive instruction?!?!?
