congrats on the new job. Its a tough market right now. When I was laid off it took me a little over a year to find a job. The job I'm at now I'm making almost half what I was making before but its a job.

Yeah the company I worked for a few years ago got bought out by IBM. I took a step down just before it happened for a little more job security, bad move for my career in so many ways.
IBM cut my salary in half....literally. Now 5+ years down the road, I am still 17k under what I used to make. Of course, if I were still at IBM, I would be 27k under. My first raise a couple months after IBM purchased us was under 800 bucks a year, I laughed at the manager and flung the paper back at him.
