Connie..Underpowered?
Taking off from a stop light today behind a Connie goes strait on the other side of the light to the Freeway/Hwy about an 1/8th mile. I thought the guy would move over I am on my 10R but know he wanted to open it up so I open it up get next to him look at it like "Really" then open the 10R even more and check out easy.... get on the HWY and I am gone.....are the Connie's really that underpowered?

The Concours 14 as kawi states was tuned for mid range. In other words its a detuned zx-14. I was surprised at how little power it makes a claimed 154 at the crank and 100 ft lbs torque. A zx-10 should destroy a C-14.

They are heavy as hell and have a ton more parasitic loss from the shaft. The do well at the strip for what they are. Doesn't mean much too though as he might not have been in the optimal gear for speed but I wasnt there.

The Concours is far from a cruiser! The more likely scenario is that he thought you were trying to race him and had zero interest in entertaining the idea. I absolutely hate it when someone pulls up next to me like that and will typically roll off.
The Concours is without a doubt the best bike in it's class, but it's no ZX-10R and that's what I love about it. With the addition of my Gen 4 I'm now seriously considering trading my Ninja 1000 out for a Concours as I absolutely love that class of bike. I'm over supersport bikes on the street, too man compromises and not enough opportunity to use them to their full potential since getting hooked on track a decade ago. The Concours does great for what it is, still has plenty of power to keep me entertained and I don't feel like a human pretzel after 400 miles in the saddle. Much love for the Connie! :)

The connie runs abt even with the newer R6 (watched them race) The guy that did my valves has one and Ive raced him. I was a gear high so he started to pull but as soon as i dropped a gear and left him in the dust. It does have a good amount of power for a shaft driven bike, they guy was riding wheelies down the road on it.

....They weigh nearly 900lbs with a 200lb rider on them Bloo, and they make in the 130-ish whp stock. They have DAMN short gearing for the first two gears though, but are a a little pokey once they get above 60mph. I can usually embarrass the average joe for the first couple hundred feet from a dig on a stock one, but the fly-by is just a matter of time.
Now, you should have raced mine.... it eats first and second gen Zx10's from a roll with the bags still on. Thing is a riot. :)
