I've heard and read that 87 makes more power. I only ride on the street so I don't push the bike or keep the RPMS to high but I still run 91. Its the highest most gas stations offer in CA.

87 supposed to give more power because of volatility. 91 minimum is manufacturer recommendations to avoid any complications. I drag mine and run 91.

Run 89 with no issues. Lower octane generates more heat-power. But its probably not huge. One or two more horses maybe. But I'll take em

On a stock motor run 87. It makes more power and will not detonate unless under some serious extremem condition, ie with a heavy passenger, up hill, high gear, hot as hell, pretty much you have to make your motor really struggle for it to detonate. I've ran nothin but 87 in mine for a long time now and it does great!

I am to paranoid to run lower then 91. Maybe with my next tank I'll try 89.

IggyBcool will become famous soon enough
Wouldn't you have to adjust the map for the octane difference?

I had my bike tuned on 91 so I don't know if running lower would have a negative effect.

if it was tuned for 91, you should run 91. same thing as if you tune for nitrous or MR12. its just not as an extreme a case and change as if you went from one of those two to regular pump 89. you would probably be just fine going from 89 to 91. personally, I just stick to 91. Its whats always been in the tank and through the motor, motor is used to running on it. 17k miles, why change it?
