Setting on the bike it's at the right front side of the airbox under the tank I believe.remove the seat and side covers to raise the tank and there she should be. :)

As above.
Remove the tank, remove the airbox lid....its in its own compartment inside the airbox, forward and to the right. Pretty obvious once under there. (Take the time too to disconnect the PAIR valve while you are under there...just have to pull the airbox off..)

BTW; I keep reading your Screen name as TAMPAX....LOL :)

Tank is easy to remove. two forward bolts (either side), main hinge bolt (below the seat) then its two quick release fuel lines and two vent hoses. otherwise it's a pain in the ass to keep it tilted and get into the air box.

In a word. NO. cant get to the airbox screws....need a long extension on screwdriver....

Now, Ive considered taking a dremel to the airbox to uncover the ECU compartment...but really, will it ever need to come out again?

Yes you can. The first time I went in there I did it without removing tank. Someone held tank up while I operated. Second time tank was pulled out. Much easier.

do it the right way...it takes all of 10 minutes, that's removing the tank and all. Really i think it can be done in 5, I'm just being realistic for a first time job.

on my gen2...I tilt the tank..then use an extra trailer tie down strap to hold it up...one hook with a rag on the front lip of the tank...then hooked to the passenger seat latch holder bracket thingee...cinch it up snug. then just use a short ass screwdriver to get the back screws out.

you will waste more time attempting to tilt the tank than just taking the tank off... then the top airbox cover comes off

don't waste 30 min. of your life like I did, disconnect the fuel lines, take the tank off, there is no mess, and this is the right way...

than unscrew the top airbox cover and if your sitting on the bike its on your right side....
