TRE = Timing Retard Eliminator
Supposedly, the timing is backed up a few degrees in the first 4 lower gears. A TRE fools the ECU into thinking you are always in 4rth gear. Note that if you have a gear indicator, the TRE may interfere with it.
You can get a cheap one from fleebay for $30. This is the route I went with. Didn't notice much of a difference, its one of those mods that adds a little and is best used in conjunction with other mods, such as a power commander with slip-on cans.

This totally baffles me...I have a bone stock (in engine and exhaust) 05 and live where the roads are steep grades/blind, tight switchbacks, and my bike has the sweetest inital and beyond throttle, there is.
The bike is also rock solid/stable...It always was...and still is...I changed the handle bars to street fighter, and installed Scotts Stabilizer/Damper...had Race Tech do total conversion of shimstacks, & springs for the rough roads here, steepened my forks for quicker/easier line picking and holding...No loss of stability what-so-ever came with that.

Can you further clarify the symptoms?
Are you talking about a definite misfire, where you feel a sudden and harsh miss, or is just running a little rough down there?
What is the typical throttle position when you experience this symptom?
What is your elevation?
My bike is a little jerky at low revs (under 4k rpm) and light throttle in 1st and 2nd. The momentum of the bike probably masks the symptoms in higher gears at those revs.
My guess on the limited info available is a fueling issue, and this would be corrected by a tune (Power Commander required, of course). I think someone else suggested the same.

To be honest it sounds exactly like my bike back when I had a slip on and no tune.

To me it sounds like you're not used to a bike with retarded timing in the low rpms.. and a TRE would fix it right up for you.
After i installed my tre i noticed a huge difference <4k rpms

Symptoms would persist or be worse at high RPM and wide open throttle. Doesn't seem to be the case.

I was reading Lee Parks Total Control and he says a lot of bikes come from the factory with the throttle bodies out of sync. Don't know how much of that is proven out and the book was published in 2003, so take it with a grain of salt, But, May be something to check...
