Last chance to cure the Gen 1....

Ok all. At the end of the tether trying to fix my gen 1 Its had this problem from when I bought it with 1700 miles on, it now has 7333 miles on. Long story short, the seller cried ignorance when I went back to him, the bike has had 2 full services in the time I had it and was serviced before I got it.

It has a misfire/rough running at low rpm, (about 1500 - 2500). Basically when riding through towns, pulling away from juntions/lights or riding at low revs up inclines etc (like this big 1 mile hill I live up... !!!) it jerks and misses?? If you pull the clutch in it clears up, and if you open the throttle it clears up. It responds/picks up immediately every time if you crack the throttle and there are no power losses anywhere else and runs sweet...

There are no FI codes up, and heres what I've checked already -
*Plugs have been changed twice for new ones, and the old ones checked in another bike and they were fine.
* Coils checked and swapped, all fine.
* Checked camshaft/crankshaft/inlet/temperature and other sensors
* No vacuum leaks
* Fuel pump checked and filter - all ok
* Tank drained and cleaned twice - all ok
* Side stand switch checked and tested ok
* Throttle checked by bike mechanic and said ok
* Connectors checked and contact sprayed
* Injectors cleaned and ok
* Seafoam run through the system
* Exhaust system and exhaust servo checked - all ok
* Done the water on the header pipe test, all heat up the same at same speed.
* ECU connector pins all checked - ok
* New battery
* Battery terminals all screwed down and ok
* Airbox seals ok, all breather pipes ok and not restricted
* No perished pipes/connections

May have checked one or two other things, its hard to remember them all ! Am I missing something obvious ??? Im coming down to the point where Im wondering whether its fueling that is incorrect maybe due a dodgy ECU ? I really am at wits end !!!! I love the bike and really want to fix it, but getting so dishearted Im giving it one more shot then trade it

Cheers all

The bikes Mods are, racefit end can and K&N filter (but I had the same problem with the stock can and stock filter just as bad).

Forgot to say

I also checked the FI code system to make sure it works by disconnecting the airbox sensor and it threw a code at me so it is working ok.

Do you have a pc on it? Check chain for kinks sometimes that will give a funny feeling. Is it backfiring? Goes away when clutch pulled maybe pull cover see if anything obvious in there.

Are the secondary throttle body butterflies still in it?

GreenWeenie will become famous soon enough
If its the stock exhaust can, they can melt inside and plug themselves up.

Try a different exhaust can.....

Cheers all for your responses ! Umm, I havent got a PC yet but I was looking in to one to see if this prob could be dialed out with a custom map. It does have the secondary butterflies in still, would removing them help (or help in another way? ) Ive tried a different can from stock with the racefit :( The chain is ok, no kinks or slack As for the TRE, Im not sure, where would it be? As far as I know it was total stock when I bought it

The butterflies being in was an issue for alot of Gen1 owners. Maybe more can chime in on the subject.
Just to make sure..are you POSITIVE you are not just bogging the bike? I mean keeping the RPM's too low by being in too high a gear. These bikes don't wake up until 4k rpm atleast. If the bike has after market exhaust or air filter or any kind of TRE etc, it will really Benefit from a custom dyno tune to get the rideability perfect after any kind of performance mod.

Thanks for the reply dude ! I will look in to the butterfly issue more Definitely not bogging, it does it in first gear when you pull away, that said when Im going through towns/slow areas etc, I now keep it in first which keeps the revs out of the danger zone and gets around it. Is weird though as other 1K bikes ive had have been happy to trundle through in second gear at the same revs

Ok Im going to sound like a right newbie here but, where can I get a TRE, and what do they do ???
