Rifleman's 1/5th throttle installed! Quick & easy.

For those of you with a Gen4 considering this mod, do it, its easy! It seriously took me all of 10 minutes to install this part. The throttle housing on the Gen4 is plastic, not metal like the previous gens so the two tabs are easy to dremel out. I was able to back the adjustments all the way out on the throttle side and it gave me enough slack, didn't have to touch the throttle body side! The throttle snaps back, just like stock. There is no slack what so ever in the throttle right now, which is how I like it. Turning the bars lock to lock idle doesn't change so I'm fine. For some reason, the throttle has a more "solid" feel than it did stock, not sure why this would be.

As far as the effect of this mod? Damn, it doesn't take much to crank on the speed! I wouldn't say its touchy, but definitely exercise some caution until you get used to it!

didnt install it right...gotta test it in neutral first to check for throttle stick, then do the same with the handlebars cocked in both directions. Mine stuck at first bec it needed the accelerator cable adjuster cut down like in the intructions

Mine on gen2 simply took just adjusting first set of adjusters in all the way like op.
Gotta make sure when you reassemble the housing that the cable is in place on underside. Real easy to overlook that and than I could see throttle sticking. But if you take your time and di it right it can be installed and running in 30 minutes including grinding.
I never should have waited so long. I was creating a bar wag by extending my wrist and arm trying to go WOT stock. Now ny arm barely moves. Great cheap mod and for anybody that drag races they know what a tenth of a second equals at the finish line.

It really is simple, not sure how you could mess it up. When I first assembled it I could hear the cables binding and it sounded rough. Took it apart and I don't think I had the cables in place over the cam. Re-assembled it taking my time and made sure to test it a few times. I knew I had it right the second time because it was smooth as can be and snapped back to closed. Took it for a quick ride just remembering to cover the clutch and the kill switch "just in case". Didn't actually check the "lock to lock" steering to see if the idle sped up until I got home, but all was fine. It is pretty basic, I don't know how you could mess it up. If it doesn't feel "right" when you're done then you probably didn't put it back together the correct way.

Yeah good thing it got stuck when he was hitting the straight away. It got stuck randomly, it was fine for months. All of a sudden it took a shit. He did mention he rushed the process of doing it. This is a great mod don't get me wrong.

Just installed. Literally took 10 min after reading a post. And.. for some reason it made it quieter too? I know it wasn't a valve knocking, it was just Kawa's in general. But now it sounds fine. Interesting.

Probably the cam chain tensioner self adjusting. Read: http://www.zx-10r.net/forum/showthread.php?t=101967.

Take it easy, respect your new "Gen 4 learner" and seriously consider URBAN LEGEND's good advice.
