I can't explain it. I'm not a fan of Church as an institution, so I'm not the right person to defend it. What really annoys me though is the blatant hypocrisy of people, who on one hand claim adherence to the Christian values, and on the other support greed and exploitation.

I understand the sentiments about people who want things for free, but I'm not convinced that many of those "welfare bums" wouldn't put themselves among the "true patriots" and supporters of letters like the one in the first post.

This letter has most likely been deliberately written in such fashion. It tries to evoke emotions of indignation and patriotism, while sneaking in all the "anti-liberal" propaganda. There will be a large number of people who will agree with the "pro-American" message, and extrapolate the agreement to the rest of the letter, regardless of whether it makes any sense or not. Sadly, most of such "appeals" are ridden with false information and are only meant to turn people against each other.

well i must say even though the letter i'm sure is fictional, i agree with most of it.

And you can in fact have money and believe in God and go to heaven. A lot of folks get confused when discussing money and church. Nowhere does the bible say money is evil, yet it's the love of money that is. I understand that churches need money. They must pay salaries, utilities, maintenance costs, outreach programs, all kinds of things. The larger the church and the more people it wishes to reach, obviously the more money it needs. If one claims to believe in God and believe what is in the bible as the written word of God, then they shouldn't have a problem with giving to the church or to charities. I have a hard time when someone uses the bible to justify redistribution of wealth. In no way is freely giving to those in need comparable to the gov't using taxpayer money to support many who don't need help. I mean God gave man free will to accept Him or deny him. You think you have free will to pay taxes? When you're forcing someone to do something it makes it much less Christian doesn't it? Let's not be silly and compare our wasteful gov't to God.

I also agree. And I am STRONGLY against welfare and all that bs. When I work 48 hours a week making decent money and a old neighbor works none but has 3 kids 3 baby daddys and gets more for free, nicer house nicer things inside her house better food cars all for free, then I get working it has to make you wonder wtf is happening here? If you think that's right then go ahead and give them all your money aswell because I am tired of putting in for some free loader to take.

I will say this.
Our country is f**ked....
As a veteran, I served my country 1st and foremost,
And I personally believe that EVERY male should have to serve at least 2 years
defending it. (Don't care who disagrees)

You should not have a right to vote or decide how this country is run or
serve in any political office unless you have done so.

This country is WEAK now because of foreign interest infiltrating into our way of life.
And I do NOT mean legal imagrants. They help build this country by working HARD
and believing in the American dream and defending it.

This country needs some tough love to right itself.
And give the BOOT to ASS to all the soft liberal bleeding hearts that drag us down.

And in closing,
If you will not work hard for this country.
GTFO:

It may be a Marine Corps motto, but I believe in it myself whole heartedly.

SEMPER FIDELIS ALWAYS FAITHFUL

kman0066 will become famous soon enough
My opinion: we have one of the cheapest tax rates in the world, and it's not that bad. I worked hard in my life, joined the military for six years, earned my college degree, and now have a very good paying job. I pay a small portion of my paycheck that helps others. The rest I blow on stuff I don't really need (like a ZX-10) and a house that has more bedrooms than my household has members. But it's nice Oh, and I save up for my own retirement. I don't personally give to other charities and simply consider part of my tax money my charity. I'm sure for every person trying to scheme the system there are a hundred who desperately need the assistance.

Don't want any money/housing assistance to go to people who need it? Things won't get better that way, they'll get worse. You can complain all you want about people having kids when they shouldn't (I agree), but the fact is they're having the kids, they can't afford to feed them well and send them to school, the kids become even bigger losers than their parents, and then finally go have kids themselves.

Work hard, get all the education you can, and I guarantee you'll find a way to make a comfortable living. Teach your kids to be hard workers. You may not live in Beverly Hills and drive a Bentley, but I'm sure you can find something that will make do. Speaking of entitlement, what else are you entitled to that you don't already have? One day we're going to have to wake up and pay more taxes.
