Bloo, just letting everyone know what higher octane does is all... I run 93 in the TL, big ol pistons can really knock when the engine is cold and just starting out in the morning.

Some guys think that higher octane will produce more horse power and that is normally not the case all things being the same... now some race gas, which is higher octane, will also have other additives that may boost bHp.

I guess my point is that if your engine is running smooth and well with out knock, on 87 pump gas... things are fine... just listen to your bike, it will tell you if it doesn't like the fuel it is running on... Knock is VERY BAD for engine longevity... Manfactures aren't paying for your fuel, so they simply say, it's high compression... go with higher octane... safe on their side, at no cost to them.

Anything with a comoression ratio of around 10:1 should nevee have 87 octane. You should use 93. My gen 3 is at 12.9:1 compression ratio. Hear it or not, 87 will detonate early....pre-detonation. It wil ignite when you get to around 10.5:1. You will not develope full power.
