Going to start working on my new project, Gen1 zx10r. Goal is simple, make it as fast as possible. It's going to be combination of gen1+gen2+gen3 parts..................aka Gen6.
I am starting with a gen1........... time to make it fly.:badteeth:
First thing to go were gen1 forks, gen1 wheels, gen1 bodywork, gen1 exhaust. Gen2 forks are in, gen3 wheels are on as well, lowering links are on, and stock clutch is about to go as well.
Gen2 forks are less prone to flex and leak and I really just wanted to be able to use gen2-3 wheels all the way around, they're much easier to find if this one gets damaged.
Stock clutch is getting replaced by something that won't fail, or at least will take more punishment before it breaks. Because I'd hate to have a stock basket break and ruin the engine.
Here are the pic of stock basket, stock basket with big rivets, and billet basket with big rivets. All the work was done by Tyler Woolsey, he's on here, thanks again mang.:hello:
Looking good! I can recommend on the STM slipper clutch for the inner basket... the change is massive! I couldn't believe how big of a change it was when I changed it on My gen 1 project.
And even though no one can see it it still looks awesome!
If you're using the clutch cover for a return line make sure you get the whole line below the bottom of the CHRA.... or you'll need a scavenge pump/check valve. You an use the oil pan on a gravity feed if you use a large enough line... I used a -10 and it works like gangbusters.
To be able to do a burn out, I have to hold the front brake and then go WOT, which is kind a hard to do with 1 hand. I had 3 options. Option 1 is a thumb throttle. Option 2 is to put a line lock. And option 3 was to move brake lever to the left clip on, so I am able to work the brake with my left hand and work the throttle with my right hand.
