So the squid in me took over this weekend. In my defence, my Gixxer riding buddy was really to blaim. :helmet:

During a nice leisurely Satuday morning ride my friend decided to pull to a stop. I thought he had a problem, but the revving of his motor and gesturing down the road when I pulled up along side showed his true intentions. Why not??.... I'd been working on the fuel map and was curious how the old man Ninja would compare to the 750 super sport. In my mind, a close loss would have been acceptable. I got a good launch and despite several taps into the soft limiter stayed out in front through 150mph indicated when I let off. Yes...he was giving up 290cc's but my bike is no super sport. Pretty damn happy with the power delivery. Suck it Gixxer boy.

Full Discloser....I have a full Akapovic and Bazzaz with autotune. He was on an 07 Gixxer 750 that is bone stock motor/tune wise. ...still...like I said... not a bad result considerring the intented use of the Ninja 1000/ Z1000SX. Plus...during the ride...he's dancing on the gear box and I just leave it in 6th and roll. Gotta love the fat mid range torque!

I feel ya, i love not havin to shift down. my buddy on his R6 likes to play around and i always give him headstarts and reel him in, but occasionally i like to sneak down a couple gears and leave him from the get go

After the pipe and tune the power is much more streetable than my 10 was. It lacks the top end rush but feels as strong/stronger up to 8k or so. It stays strong and pulls through the limiter w/o going soft but does not get manic like a liter super sport. It's a hoot through the twisties. I had to modify my techique due to the upright seating position but the upright position and wide bars make dropping into turns effortless and the chassis is very composed despite being under sprung and under dampened for my weight. comfort wise I want my seat redone. It has a slight forward slant that I don't care for. Sending it out to Baldwin. http://www.motorbikesaddles.com/Kawasaki Ninja 1000

Thanks, might be looking for a new street bike that's beat up construction worker friendly. ZX14 was looking to be the choice, forgot all about this new model.
