Ok did the 08 last night...
I didnt cut off the lock nut, but I instead cut that amount off the turning cable, left the lock nut on and cut 1/4 thread off....
perfect snap...also cut a calbe grove in the throttle clip.....

fantastic write up, i had to cut 1/4 thread and locknut off the accel cable only, and have decel cable adjusted 1/4 out... works perfect :)

also thread locked housing back together to be safe

i didn't even have to cut off the lock nuts. took about 15 mins.

That is the Curse of Speed which has plagued me all my life. I am a slave to it. On my tombstone they will carve, "IT NEVER GOT FAST ENOUGH FOR ME."

This might be a stupid question, but people are having to cut bolts off and threads, to allow more cable to come out so theres enough cable to fit around the insert?

Got it to work, just had to loosen up the top bolt only.
