If I don't owe the tax man anything this year and end up with a decent return, I'll be getting an Ohlins and letting go of my 400 mile stocker off my 2016. I'll let ya know in a few weeks when I get my return back. My accountant says she's a week or two out from getting to me so pm me in a week or two if you want to line something up.

If anybody's still looking, now's a great time to make offers on eBay for an OEM BFRC. There are a lot more auctions posted now than there were 4-5 months ago. Furthermore, the asking prices have dropped as I see the same listings from last year still on ebay today, only with lower prices.

I bought mine on Ebay (with an offer) back in early January for a reasonable price. All, and I mean all of the current listings are over priced even today. Out of respect for current sellers, I'm not going to post what I paid but if you're a buyer, PM me and I'll let you know what I got mine for and what I saw others selling for. I've been watching these shocks since the Gen 5 first came out.

Cheers

need the shock, links and dog bone....

need the hole enchilada to work... and then it will be stock better than stock gen4..

easier to send to revalve aad spring gen4 shock for 250 and be done with it.

Agreed, a re-valve of the Gen 4 shock is the most logical option for most. Just to summarize the Gen 5 BFRC alternative for the newbies, strictly speaking you'd need the Gen 5 shock along with new link plates. The Dog bone isn't essential but desirable. The link plate options are the OEM Gen 5 link plates, custom ones from ukzx10r or off the shelf plates from MSS or similar race part companies.

I only chose the Gen 5 route because I'm all in for less than the cost of a rebuild and when it comes time to refresh the BFRC, it seems like a better starting place for a re-valve due to the superior technology and aesthetics of the shock.

Sourced some links that'll work with a factory dogbone from a forum member here who's fitted it to his bike with no issues. As much as I want to get the ohlins, I don't think it's cost effective for my needs... so ill stick to the gen 5 shock and have that re valved and sprung to my liking and move on from there
