Well whatever it is I'm old school, don't do the InstaTwitFace or whatever. I don't got enough time for all of that. I figure if it's important enough I'll get a text or *gasp* a call from an actual person.

Going to keep bumping this thread until it's poll time closes.
I see what you did there, instaTwatface.

Being social media is huge business, psychologist are hired by the sites to help them develop ways to keep people using them.
Yeah this. A well thought out lucid post and 100% accurate. I read the other day where because of the way we use media now our average attention span has shrank to 1.6 seconds. That's less than a gold fish.

This is my only form of social media. No instatwatbook here either. My forum usage had fallen off to match my closing of social media stuff. Just spent more time doing other stuff. Internet was email and research only basically.

Anyway, I digress..... VOTE FOR NINJA GUMBY
WOW, that was really deep. Thank you for sharing. You brought up some very interesting points. I feel its also a huge escape for those who are narcissistic, which further proves your point. However working in Entertainment, one of my clients (who is on her 13th season) banks over 25 million yearly fully utilizing social media. So not bad for some, but deteriorates morality and natural human interactions face to face.

Don't want to jack this thread any further.... but... lol...

As you say, it is not all bad. When used in a productive manner social media is a great tool. However, is it a great tool because social media is just the place where everyone is at these days? You know what though? If everyone used it like they do when watching TV, surfing the internet or going to the movies it would not be so bad. In all those things we have to schedule that time for when we are not engaged in the real world. People cannot schedule their instatwatfaces because of the instant gratification they get with every "like". The more they upload what they are doing every second of the day the more gratification they get. They also enjoy "liking" other peoples stuff because in turn that may also generate more "likes" for them. Getting "likes" and "liking" is almost as powerful as meth or crack because it rewards the same gratification regions in our brains. So much that there are 18 to 26 year olds in relationships who prefer getting on social media than getting off with each other. I think the number was 3 percent of that population.... it's not a huge amount, but still.... that is worrisome. I'm 43 and I could not imagine choosing facebook over facesitting....just saying.

So....yeah... VOTE FOR NINJA GUMBY! See didn't totally jack the thread.
