Insufficent throttle cable slack is the problem 90% of the time, that's what I always recomend to look for to start with.

the other 10% is that the little tabs in the housing aren't flush with the SIDES of the housing... everyone gets them to the bottom... but the sides really need to be worked on until they are flush and the grip spins freely.

but yeah, most of the time its' insufficient cable slack

Ok, thanks guys, I ground the tabs out good so Im just guessing its the slack as I didn't have time to finish properly and so didnt get round to messing with the cables under the tank

Update:

Got round to finishing off at the weekend. The cables were tight, which was making the throttle stick as we suspected. All fixed now though

All I had to do in the end was remove the two lock nuts and tighten the screw parts up as far as they would go. Bit of lube down the tubes and it was all good to go. I didnt need to cut any of the thread off.

Thanks to Rifleman for the part and info and to ZaleZ for the 'How to' post

I'll also add my little review too:

Riflemans 1/5th Throttle insert: one of the most awesome mods I've installed so far! Personally for me it didn't take any 'getting used to' whatsoever! I've always been one of those people that just gets on a bike and rides it as well as I can and the throttle insert was no different, to be honest initially bimbling through town on the way to the better roads I forgot it was in there, with just tiny wrist movements needed to cruise about. When I hit the more open/faster roads is where it came into its own. Just a breath on the throttle and WOOMPH you're off, seems to open access to the power much faster yet still being just as controllable, I would recommend this mod to absolutely everyone!

I was wondering if anyone knows if this mod will do anything for my 06 ZX-10 or would it be a waste of time to do?

Rick, so far, fits all years ZX-10R, it really wakes up the bike. Makes the bike feel more responsive, "tighter", more agile.

absolutly a must do mod for the 10R

give it a go, if you don't like it, money back.
